Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 September 2026
This policy explains how My Finance Lens, sole proprietor trading as MyFinanceLens ("we"), handles your information when you use myfinancelens.com. We are the data fiduciary for that information.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), preferred language, and profile settings.
- Financial data you enter: salary and income, fixed and recurring expenses, grocery entries, budgets, debts, savings, gold savings and education goals.
- Statement imports: transactions parsed from bank or UPI statement files you upload (CSV, XLSX or text PDF), plus the file name, size and type. Parsing happens for your account only.
- Billing data: subscription status, plan, renewal dates and payment reference IDs. We never receive or store your full card number, CVV or UPI PIN— those go directly to our payment provider.
- Technical data: device and browser type, log and error data needed to keep the service running and secure.
2. Why we use it
- To provide the app: store your records and show your dashboards and reports.
- To categorise transactions and generate summaries and insights.
- To manage your subscription, invoices, renewals and refunds.
- To send service messages such as reminders, receipts and security notices.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your financial records for advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We share only what is needed, with service providers acting on our instructions:
- Cloud hosting and database providers who store the application data.
- Our payment provider, to take payments and manage subscriptions.
- Email delivery providers, for transactional messages.
- AI processing providers, where you use optional features such as bill scanning or transaction categorisation. Content sent for these features is used only to return your result.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.
4. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS and stored in access-controlled databases with row-level security so that each account can read only its own records. Passwords are hashed. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
5. Retention
- Your records are kept while your account is active.
- Uploaded statement files are processed for import; we retain the parsed transactions and file metadata, not a permanent copy of the original file.
- When you delete your account, your financial records are deleted from our live systems promptly and from backups within 30 days.
- Billing and tax records are retained for as long as Indian law requires, typically 8 years.
6. Consent and your rights
We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account, and for legitimate uses permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (such as meeting legal obligations). Under that Act you have the right to:
- Obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
- Correct, complete or update your data — most fields can be edited directly in the app.
- Erase your data by deleting your account from Settings, or by writing to us.
- Receive a copy of your records — email support@myfinancelens.com from your registered address and we will send it within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by deleting your account or writing to us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already done, and we will stop processing and erase your data unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity, by writing to us.
- Seek grievance redressal as described in section 10.
7. Cookies
We use only essential cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as language and theme. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
8. Children
Under Indian law, anyone below 18 is a child. Children aged 7 to 17 may use the Service only through an account created by a parent or legal guardian, who gives verifiable consent on the child's behalf at sign-up and guides and supervises the child's use. We may ask the parent or guardian to confirm their identity and relationship to the child. We do not track, profile or behaviourally monitor children, and we do not show them targeted advertising. If you believe a child's data was provided without parental consent, contact us at support@myfinancelens.com and we will delete it.
9. Data breaches and transfers
If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India without undue delay and within the timelines set by law, describing what happened, the likely impact and the steps we are taking. Some of our service providers (hosting, email and AI processing) may process data outside India; such transfers are made only to countries not restricted by the Government of India and under safeguards requiring them to protect your data.
10. Grievance Officer
For any privacy question, request or complaint, contact our Grievance Officer: MyFinanceLens Admin, My Finance Lens, email support@myfinancelens.com. We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Changes
We will post updates here and change the "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be notified in-app or by email, and where required we will ask for your consent again.
